Laminates to decorated surfaces ( NF F31-446 and NF F31-447 )
The NF and NF F31-446 F31-447 standards define the required tests to validate laminated panels decorated interior trim train. To qualify these products, a series of tests is required: One should check the overall look of the product, the quality of the sets and marking or the absence of unpleasant odor . The holding time in this aspect is verified by the abrasion resistance ( NF ) , the impact strength , cracking , scratching . The dimensional stability is evaluated by the standard ( NF T54-361 ) and its resistance to boiling water ( NF T54-355 ) , water vapor, staining by domestic products ( T54-357 NF ) or immersion / emersion cycles in water at a controlled temperature of 70 ° C. The color fastness to artificial light (UV Aging) is also an essential aspect of this type of validation (NF T51-058 ) parameter. Finally, the fire performance of the finished product must also be validated. The final compliance is established based on the requirements defined by the customer's specifications or EN438-2 standard.

Regulations
14/06/2011
Prohibited substances and subjected to authorization
The main objectives of the development process of automotive products include continuous improvement in quality but also safety and reducing environmental impact throughout the lifecycle of the vehicle. In these recent years, automakers must follow different regulations which restrict or prohibit the use of substances to ensure human health and environmental protection. To reduce the waste generated by vehicles at the end of life and improve their recycling, a certificate of conformity according to Directive 2000/53/EC (End-of-Life Vehicles, ELV) is required for all parts or materials delivered to each car manufacturers, stating that no piece should contain heavy metals. In parallel, harmful substances listed in Directive REACH (1907/2006/EC) are subject to restrictions. SERCOVAM can assist automotive suppliers in these approaches for verifying the compliance to these guidelines by the ability to search for: - The presence of heavy metals (lead, cadmium, mercury and hexavalent chromium) (according to Directive 2000/53/EC ELV) by XRF - Type of phthalates DEHP, DBP and BBP (following REACH 1907/2006) by gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (GC/MS). In addition to these regulations by vehicle manufacturers in the common list GADSL (Global Automotive Reportable Substance List) or to their own documents (RENAULT 01 00 40, GMW 3059, VOLKSWAGEN 91101, VOLVO STD100-0005, PSA B20 0250), some of them readjust the limit values (e.g. RENAULT for internal parts for the cockpit following RENAULT 37 00 091 - Control of potential allergic) or add additional controls. SERCOVAM is also able to measure heavy phthalates (DOP type) gravimetrically (DIN 75201B specifications in plastic parts PSA B62 0300) or to research Bisphenol A (BPA), organotin or TBBA.

Labelling of products for construction and decoration
The construction and decoration products contain VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) that can be harmful to the health of occupants of buildings in which they are installed. The decree establishing mandatory labelling of products for construction and decoration on their emissions of volatile pollutants has been released in March 2011 (Decree No. 2011-321 of 23 March 2011 on the labelling of construction products or floor and wall coatings and paints and varnish on their VOC emission rate). From 1 January 2012, these products must bear a label that will indicate to the user, in a simple and readable way , the emission level of volatile pollutants produced. The emission level for each pollutant is classified from A (very low emissions) to C (high emissions), as the principle already used for home appliances or cars. The rating assigned to the product being measured will be calculated based on the value of emissions measured according to NF EN ISO 16000-9, 16000-10, 16000-6, 16000-3 and 16000-11. SERCOVAM assists manufacturers and importers of construction and decoration products to measure and quantify the presence of VOCs in the products they distribute.

XB ABRASION
The XB abrasion, originally designed for cell phone industry, is now used for all electrical and electronic equipments (buttons, switches, controls …) whose prints could be erased under a repeated action of fingers and other hand parts. The XB test device, unlike Crockmeter for example, allows determining the resistance of printings and markings on curved surfaces or parts. Accelerated wear is produced by the friction of the XB artificial finger through a normalized fabric, dry or wet with a fluid, fabric which is itself in contact with the tested specimen. The XB can also perform the finger nail test. The applied force and the number of impacts or of cycles depend from the product specification. This XB device is in compliance with : NF-EN60068-2-70 (NF EN 60068-2-70) or IEC 68-2-70 (IEC 68-2-70) Environmental testing – Part 2-70: Tests – Test Xb: Abrasion of markings and letterings caused by rubbing of fingers and hands, Daimler DBL 7384 §5.11., Ford WSS M2P188-A1 §3.10 (BN155-01), BMW GS 97034 (BMW AA-P296 or BMW AA P266), BMW GS97034-9 (GS 97034-9) orBMW GS97034-7 (GS 97034-7), PSA D245020 (D24 5020)… SERCOVAM is officially approved by PSA PEUGEOT CITROEN for the test method D24 5020 "Coatings for plastic parts interior decorated - Abrasion Resistance - ABREX® method"

The principal tests performed on your parts in the context of these specifications are material validations (Fogging, Odour, VOC, Formaldehyde, Combustibility), as well as a certain number of climatic and UV tests which differ slightly if your part is intended for a VW or Audi project. Completion of the validation process for your part may require a rubbing, abrasion and staining test. More rarely, a corrosion test is specified, especially if the part is chrome-plated.

Sine-wave with noise
SERCOVAM's vibration laboratory is now equipped with sine wave with noise software that can, for example, simluate the rotation of the blades of a helicopter or of an aircraft engine. By combining random noise with flat or scanned sine-wave bands, this test simulates the irregularities in noise produced by a rotor or gear system. The noise produced complies with the standards issued by the US Defense Department, MIL STD 810 or STD 202.

Paint film thickness
This test method, for which RENAULT has delivered self-approval to SERCOVAM, involves determining the thickness of a single- or multi-layer coating to the nearest micron. A cross-section through the test sample is embedded in a resin. Measurements are then made using a microscope fitted with a digital camera to produce precise images of the coats or films. Compliance with standard NF T 30-123 (method A) guarantees the validity of this examination. It is one of the requirements specified by RENAULT for paint coatings on external plastic bodywork parts.

Martindale abrasion
Circular test samples are rubbed using a standard abrasive material with a specified pressure applied. The motion of the rubber follows a cyclical planar pattern called a Lissajous figure (the resultant of two simple harmonic movements, perpendicular to each other). The resistance to abrasion is estimated based on the number of cycles to failure, on the loss of mass of the test samples, or, for a fabric, on the piling tendency. SERCOVAM has two of these , which ensure compliance with the international standards (EN ISO 12947, EN ISO 12945) and with the specific test methods developed by car manufactuers (RENAULT, PSA, VOLVO, etc.).
