The CASS test (Copper Accelerated Salt Spray) is a variant on the salt spray test, with the difference being that the solution used is a mixture of sodium chloride, acetic acid and copper chloride (cupro-acetic mixture).

Its main application is in the testing of nickel/chrome or copper/nickel/chrome decorative coatings, or of anodised aluminium coatings.

During the test, the temperature of the corrosion chamber is increased to 50°C.
