IP (International Protection) tests determine the level of protection provided by the enclosure of a part. It is expressed in the form IP XY, where X is the degree of protection against the intrusion of solid objects (ranging from a hand to dust), and Y is the protection against the ingress of water (from rain to prolonged immersion).
