GLOW WIRE TEST
The glow wire test is intended to assess the fire hazard of a material under the effect of heat stress that can be produced from sources of heat or glowing elements. The material under test is brought into contact under a given pressure, with a glow wire heated to high temperatures: depending on the test method, characteristics of inflammation, burning time, time of perforation are reported. The major test methods are : CEI 60695-2-10 (NF EN 60695-11-10) : Glow-wire apparatus and common test procedure ; CEI 60695-2-11(NF EN 60695-2-11) : Glow-wire flammability test method for end-products; CEI 60695-2-12 (NF EN 60695-2-12) Glow-wire flammability index (GWFI) test method for materials; CEI 60695-2-13 (NF EN 60695-2-13) Glow-wire ignition temperature (GWIT) test method for materials ; RENAULT D45 1730 (D451730) Ashtrays fire resistance - Incandescent wire test; PSA D45 1730 (D457130) Incandescent wire test ; PSA D47 5462 (D475462) Flammability to incandescent wire.
